Dr. Jessica Carless, Ph.D. joined The Procter and Gamble Company (P&G) R&D in June 2013. Currently, Jessica is the lead products researcher on the Venus and joy brand where her job is to be the “voice of the consumer.” She designs and executes qualitative and quantitative consumer research to best understand consumer beliefs, motivation and product performance expectations. What excites her most about her current role is that she gets to be a detective and a storyteller on who the consumer is and what product experiences delight her. She finds pride in the fact that her work can be seen in stores, on commercials and social media.
In her initial role at P&G as the lead senior scientist for Beauty personal care (hair care, body wash, AP/DOs), she innovated ways to understand the integration of sensorial experiences during the use of beauty products. Work she is most proud of in this space is designing experiments to help launch hair care products such as “My Black is Beautiful” and “Pantene Gold series,” all products targeted at curly and kinky hair, a market that has been under researched and undervalued.
Jessica received her B.S. in Biology with a focus in Neuroscience from Temple University in 2006. She interned in the CNS Discovery Department at Pfizer Inc. for 3 summers where she focused on the pharmacological and behavioral impact of ADHD and Alzheimer’s Drug. Her work at Pfizer and undergraduate research motivated her to pursue a PhD in Neuroscience. She earned her Ph.D. from the Psychiatry department at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School in Neuroscience where her research focused on understanding cognitive and neurobiological decline following chronic cocaine use in non-human primates.
Jessica is the wife of a humorous and smart nuclear engineer and mother of an intelligent energetic toddler. During her free time, she enjoys running with local run groups, hosting friends for dinner and game nights, traveling and decorating her home. Her values and work ethic are driven by the desire to create a world that will nurture and empower her daughter and other women to be future leaders.
Michelle has more than a decade’s experience developing marketing campaigns, brand, and social media strategies. In addition, Michelle has expertise in managing marketing initiatives such as analyst relations programs, advertising, corporate communications, web and print content development, and traditional public relations. Before joining Chadwick Martin Bailey, Michelle was the Director of Marketing at AssureSign, Senior Marketing Manager at Revenue Analytics, and held Marketing positions at North Highland and Beazer Homes.
Michelle is the 2017 Technology of Georgia (TAG) Young Professionals, One In A Millennial Marketing and Social Media Leader award recipient. She is also a member of the TAG Marketing Society, and on the alumni board at Clayton State University.
Ashley Hopkins is the Head of Brand Strategy for Wayfair, a leading global e-commerce destination for all things home. Prior to joining Wayfair, Ashley focused her efforts championing the consumer—on both the brand and creative agency sides. Most recently, she built the consumer insights function from the ground up at ASICS, a multinational global footwear and apparel company. Her team was responsible for executing the digital voice of the consumer program, product development research, and marketing communications testing.
Outside of Wayfair, Ashley co-founded Four Progress, a company focused on building positive and impactful tools for mental health and wellness. Their first product, the Worry for Nothing journal, is a discreet, guided anxiety journal leveraging Cognitive Behavior Therapy techniques that has already helped over 10,000 people. Additionally, Ashley leads the 4A’s CX Council as co-chair, and previously served as co-chair for the IPG Women’s Leadership Network of Boston, Boston Business Women Board of Directors, American Marketing Association (SNEC) Board of Directors, and the New England Financial Marketing Association Programming and Marketing Committees.
In her role at AMS, Raquel is involved in exploratory research, survey design, survey fielding, data analysis, and report development. She has worked on projects related to trademark infringement, secondary meaning, genericism, patent infringement, deceptive advertising, and class certification. She is also a contributor to theDiversity, Equity, and Inclusion efforts at AMS.
Prior to joining AMS, Raquel worked as a research data analyst for the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she helped implement assessment projects to analyze usage data, client satisfaction, and learning outcomes to track progress and success of mental health services. Through her graduate schoolwork, Raquel discovered her love for survey methodology, data and statistics, research, and diversity/inclusion work.
Raquel holds a B.A. in psychology from Hope College and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Applied Psychology from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale.
